Postgraduate Application Timelines

A clear, month-by-month roadmap for applying to a Master's or MBA abroad. Timelines below are typical for a Fall (September) intake — always confirm exact dates on each university's official admissions page.

12+ months out

Research & Self-Assessment

Clarify your goals, shortlist countries, and understand the profile top programmes expect. Start building the experiences that will make your application stand out.

10–12 months

Standardised Tests

Register for and prepare the tests your programmes need — IELTS/TOEFL for English, and GRE/GMAT where required. Leave room for a retake.

8–10 months

Shortlist Universities

Finalise a balanced list of ambitious, target and safe programmes. Confirm each one's specific requirements and deadlines from its official website.

6–8 months

Draft Your Application

Write your SOP/personal statement, refine your CV, and line up recommenders early. This is where a strong narrative is built — don't rush it.

4–6 months

Submit Applications

Submit ahead of deadlines, especially for rolling admissions and early rounds where earlier applicants have an advantage.

2–4 months

Decisions & Funding

Respond to interviews and offers, compare funding, and apply for scholarships and assistantships with their own deadlines.

0–2 months

Visa & Pre-Departure

Accept your offer, complete visa formalities for your destination, arrange finances and accommodation, and prepare for the transition.

A note on intakes

Most of our destinations have a primary Fall / Autumn intake, with some universities also offering a smaller Spring / January intake. If you're targeting Spring, shift the timeline above roughly six months earlier relative to your start date.

Deadlines and requirements vary by university and even by programme within a university — the dates here are a planning guide, not a substitute for each institution's official information.
